Clippers agree to deal in principle for Chris Paul
The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to a deal in principle to acquire star point guard Chris Paul from the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.
The deal, which was expected to be approved by the league Wednesday night, will reportedly see the Clippers send guard Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota’s unprotected 2012 first-round pick to the Hornets.
The sources said the Clippers will also receive two future second-round picks.
Should the deal be approved, it would bring an end to a saga that had seen previous deals between Paul and the Lakers and then the Clippers both nixed by the NBA.
Clippers trying for Chris Paul deal
The New Orleans Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers have submitted a multiplayer blockbuster deal to the NBA that would send All-Star point guard Chris Paul to Los Angeles, a source with knowledge of the discussions said Monday.
But the trade as presented has at least one stumbling block: The league, which owns the Hornets, wants the Clippers to add Eric Bledsoe to a package that already includes guard Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota’s unprotected 2012 first-round pick.
The deal would be done if the league hadn’t asked for Bledsoe, according to one source close to the process.
Lamar Odom in stunned disbelief over almost being traded
Lamar Odom is still a Laker, but he doesn’t sound completely thrilled about it.
Odom admitted that he was “shocked” and “surprised” when told Thursday afternoon that the Los Angeles Lakers agreed to trade him to the New Orleans Hornets as part of a deal for point guard Chris Paul. But this evening when he heard that the NBA had killed the trade, Odom said he was in “total disbelief” over these new developments…
“Maybe I’ll see you there tomorrow [at practice],” Odom said. “But I doubt it. You don’t want to go to no place you’re not wanted. I’ll try to give them what they want as much as possible.”
Odom also felt bad for Gasol.
David Stern Rejects Chris Paul Trade
On the eve of the sport’s formal re-opening for business after a five-month lockout, NBA commissioner David Stern sent shockwaves throughout the league Thursday night by nixing the league-owned New Orleans Hornets’ plans to trade guard Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Within an hour of the Hornets striking an agreement in principle with the Lakers and Houston Rockets on a three-team trade that would have landed Paul in the same backcourt as Kobe Bryant, Stern informed the Hornets that they couldn’t make the trade, stunning team officials who had been working around-the-clock for days in hopes of bringing an end to the Paul saga before the season officially started.
Celtics Willing To Trade Rondo for Chris Paul
The Boston Celtics, who already have one of the best point guards in the NBA, are interested in making an upgrade by acquiring the New Orleans Hornets’ Chris Paul and would be willing to give up Rajon Rondo to get him.
According to an SI.com report, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge is “highly motivated” to land Paul. The report says the Hornets don’t appear interested in a two-team deal in which Rondo and Paul would switch places. So Ainge has been trying to find a third team to get involved.
