Michele Bachman Might Be Out Of A Job This Fall!

Michele Bachmann might be having the worst political year ever!

Not only didn’t she come close to securing a presidential nomination from the Republican party, but she might be losing her seat in Congress!

The proud supporter of the Tea Party movement has been reppin’ Minnesota’s 6th congressional district since 2007, but voters apparently have had enough of her bigoted antics. A recent poll shows she is just 2 points ahead of Democrat Jim Graves!

We’re sure a lot of her followers still can’t get enough of her typical rhetoric about abortions, gays and the Muslin Brotherhood, but the independent voters are dropping their support in HUGE numbers.

In the first survey since June, Graves moved from 41%-45% disadvantage with indies to a 52%-37% advantage!

Alan Ball‘s inspiration for the religious extremist storyline in this past season of True Blood is still ahead of her opponent 48%-46%, but the question is…for how much longer?

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Minnesota Vikings plan on holding out running back Adrian Peterson from this week’s preseason game.

Vikings do not plan to play RB Adrian Peterson Friday vs. San Diego, though team is expecting him to argue his case for playing time in game

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 20, 2012

As much as Peterson wants to push himself and play, the Vikings need to make sure he doesn’t become his own worst enemy and become a danger to himself.

Leslie Frazier hasn’t ruled Adrian Peterson playing this week

AP

Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier hasn’t ruled out running back Adrian Peterson from possibly playing in this week’s preseason game.

“We’re going to give him a little bit more each day, see how he responds and continue to determine what’s the next step,” Frazier said on Sunday, per 1500 ESPN Radio. “Just go day to day. We have some ideas of how we want to approach it, but a lot of it depends on how he feels with some of the things we’re going to give him this week.”

A part of me still feels like the Vikings are rushing Peterson back.

Vikings fans throw things to entertain themselves during preseason game

@andersonj

During Friday night’s preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, fans of the Minnesota Vikings fans began to throw anything and everything they could as they did the wave for roughly 30 minutes.  You can read the tweets below to get an idea of the mayhem.  It sounds pretty crazy.

And the fans are doing the wave. PRESEASON FOOTBALL!

— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) August 18, 2012

Fans at the Dome are doing the wave and some have start to throw their programs when they stand up. Security!

Fans are now throwing things from the upper deck at people in lower deck as wave keeps going around. This may not end well.

I have never seen this before. Reminds me of game at TCF with snow being thrown during the wave. twitter.com/andersonj/stat…

— Jeff Anderson (@andersonj) August 18, 2012

Longest I have ever seen. I’m surprised there’s stuff left to throw. RT @jwright21: @tompelissero might be the longest wave known to mankind

— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) August 18, 2012

We are now getting an announcement about throwing things at the Dome. This is after fans threw their programs for a good 25 minutes.

P.A. announcer, not Paul Allen, warns crowd about paper airplanes. One guy taunts security, throws it and leaves. #Vikings

Vikings players will get cut for touching Adrian Peterson

AP Photo

Minnesota Vikings safety Jamarca Sanford says that the coaches made things clear to them, if they touch running back Adrian Peterson in practice, they’ll be gone.

The rules are simple,” Sanford said today. “Do not touch 28 [Peterson]. If you touch him, you’re cut.”

Peterson is coming back from ACL surgery and after investing a load of money in him, the Vikings aren’t willing to let anyone ruin the career of their prized player.

NFL reportedly planning on using replacement officials during the regular season

AP Photos

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the NFL is now planning on using replacement officials during the regular season.

“League executives said Monday they now foresee starting the 2012 regular season with replacement officials,” reported Mortensen.

With the way these officials have been calling games during the preseason, the NFL would be stupid to not strike a deal with the regular officials.

Jerry Rice says Adrian Peterson is rushing back too soon

AP Photo

Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice can relate to what Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is going through since he suffered a torn ACL back in week one of the 1997 football season.  He rushed back and played again in week 16 of the same season.  Rice ended up suffering a cracked knee cap during that game and believes it ended up hurting him more in the long run.  He also believes the cracked knee cap was caused by him rushing back to soon.

“I cracked my patella,” Rice said on NFL Live, via ProFootballTalk.com. “I feel that I rushed myself back to the football field. And I think that with Adrian Peterson, he’s doing the same thing. Because we are accustomed to being out there with the guys, sweating with the guys, fighting on the football field. And if you’re not able to do that you just don’t feel connected. And that’s the reason why I rushed back. I hope he doesn’t do the same thing.”

“I thought I was invincible,” Rice said. “I felt I did all the work and it was time for me to get back on that football field. But if I had to do it all over again, I would take more time to heal up, then come back.”

Not only does it seem like Peterson is rushing back, he’s crazy for running without a knee brace.

When a player typically comes back from undergoing a major surgery to repair an ACL tear, they’ll wear a knee brace for extra support.  Well it looks like Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has decided to go against the grain and not wear one.

As promised, Adrian Peterson isn’t wearing a brace on his reconstructed knee. #Vikingsyfrog.us/ndcqilrclmavys…

According to Tom Peliserro of 1500 ESPN Radio, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson practiced with the first-team offense on Sunday and Toby Gerhart worked with the second team.

No surprise really but Adrian Peterson is taking all the first team reps here while Toby Gerhart works with the twos. #Vikings

Peterson was just activated from the PUP list.  As the week goes on, we’ll see if he’s ready to play in next weekend’s preseason game.

Vikings take Adrian Peterson off the PUP list

AP Photo

According to Jeremy Fowler of the Pioneer-Press, Minnesota Vikings have taken running back Adrian Peterson off the PUP list, but he hasn’t been cleared to take a hit or play in a game.

“The Vikings have lifted running back Adrian Peterson from the physically unable to perform list, but he’s still not cleared to play in a live game — or take a hit in practice.

“Peterson participated in the Sunday, Aug. 12, walkthrough, taking handoffs with the first team during the installation period. Per the new collective-bargaining agreement, Peterson can’t wear pads until Tuesday and will be limited to individual drills and walkthroughs for the next two days,” reported Fowler.

Sources add that the Vikings are targeting a Tuesday return for RB Adrian Peterson to practice at this time.

Sources say if all goes to plan RB Adrian Peterson will at least have limited partcipation in their walk through Sunday & fully by Tuesday.

— Josina Anderson (@JosinaAnderson) August 12, 2012

If Peterson is activated we don’t know if he’ll play in next week’s preseason.  We’ll have to wait and see.

Vikings will talk about taking Adrian Peterson off the PUP list

AP Photo

Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier told 1300 ESPN Radio in Minneapolis that they plan on discussing the possibility of taking running back Adrian Peterson off the PUP lost.

“We’re going to discuss it,” Frazier said. “We’ll discuss where he is and what’s the next step for him this week, whether we continue to work through rehab or how we want to approach it.”

If the Vikings take Peterson off the PUP list, I’m not sure how much, if all he’d play in next week’s preseason game.

NFL Referee’s Association has a list of offciating errors from the HoF game

The NFL Referee’s Association was paying close attention to Sunday night’s Hall of Fame game between the Arizona Cardinals and the New Orleans Saints.  They wrote up a report to keep track of the officiating errors made during the game.

“Professional NFL officials are graded after every game,” NFLRA counsel Michael Arnold said in a release, per ProFootballTalk.com.  ”Several of the NFL Referee Association’s officials who grade for Division-I college conferences did a review of the Hall of Fame Game working from a recording of the television feed.  Normally, there would be an opportunity to also view the ‘Coaches’ Tape, which provides two views of every play, but multiple costly errors were still evident.  Numerous errors in field mechanics, game administration and even the coin toss negatively impacted the quality of the game.”

The thing that really stuck out to me about Sunday night’s game is that there wasn’t one holding call made for the entire game.  I wonder if they noticed the players that were mocking the bad officiating as the game went on.

Vikings rookie kicker boots 50-yard field goal into the crowd

AP Photo

Minnesota Vikings rookie kicker Blair Walsh booted a 50-yard field goal into the crowd and almost out of the stadium, during Saturday night’s team scrimmage.

50-yard field goals are very difficult as it is, but when a kicker can kick the ball so far that it goes into the stands, that’s pretty impressive.

Vikings likely lose Greg Childs for the season

AP Photo

According to Tom Pelissero of 1500 ESPN Radio, it looks like Vikings wide receiver Greg Childs has suffered serious injuries to his knees and he’s likely done for the season.  We’re still awaiting the final results of his MRI.

Greg Childs’ MRI is not complete but two sources say it’s a significant injury to both knees and he’s almost surely done for the season.

— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) August 5, 2012

The rumor is that Childs has torn both of his patella tendon’s.  If this is the case, he’s in for a very difficult road ahead.

Vikings wide receiver Greg Childs carted off the practice field

According to Tom Pelissero of 1500 ESPN Radio,  Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Greg Childs went down screaming during practice after suffering what looked like a leg injury.

“Greg Childs screamed in pain as he hit the ground and left the field on a cart after suffering an apparent leg injury in the Minnesota Vikings’ practice on Saturday night inside Blakeslee Stadium,” reported Pelissero.

“The rookie receiver was leaping for a deep ball thrown by McLeod Bethel-Thompson when he hit the ground hard and untouched, with cornerback Corey Gatewood trailing the play. Childs’ left knee appeared to take the brunt of the impact, but he initially grabbed his right knee as he rolled to his side.

“Childs immediately began screaming and four members of the Vikings’ medical staff, including head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman, rushed to his side. He eventually was lifted onto a cart and left the field, raising a hand briefly to acknowledge fans yelling to him from the stands,” wrote Pelissero.

Childs has been impressive at times during camp so far, it would be unfortunate if ends up missing the entire season.  We’ll just hope and pray this is nothing more than a scare.

Roger Goodell says football needs to be included in the Olympics

Getty Images

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell believes that football should be included as an Olympic sport.  He told Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com on the Dan Patrick show, that he’s been taking the necessary steps to be recognized by the International Olympic Committee.

“Absolutely. We’re already taking steps to gain that IOC recognition. We have, I think, 64 countries that are playing American football now, and that’s one of the requirements. That’s been growing dramatically — I think it was 40 just five years ago,” Goodell said.

Goodell’s goal is to help the game of football to continue to grow.

“Our point is just to keep growing the game,” Goodell said. “We’re having a tremendous reaction in London and the UK for the game of football, our regular season game over there is sold out again this year, we are seriously contemplating as early as 2013 playing two NFL games next season and I think we’ll do that. It’s a response to the tremendous fan reaction and the growth of the game. If we can continue to grow the game there and have the fan reaction that we have, there very well may be a franchise in London.”

I think football would be a great olympic sport, but who would play?  NFL players would never sign up for the Olympics with the chance of ruining their careers by suffering an injury.  I believe they would rather be injured in an NFL game where their fighting for a Super Bowl ring.

Vikings to reduce Jared Allen’s snaps

Getty Images

In order to keep all-pro defensive end Jared Allen fresh during games, Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier plans on reducing his snaps this season.

“We’re going to make a concerted effort to try to get him off the field at times,” Frazier said, per the Pioneer Press. “Without hurting the team. We don’t want to hurt the team. He’s our best pass rusher, one of the best in the NFL.”

“Frazier said he has a snap percentage for Allen in mind, but the final count might depend on game flow and the development of backups such as D’Aundre Reed,” reported Jeremy Fowler of the Pioneer Press.

John Madden doesn’t believe in the “Madden Curse”

Getty Images

Former NFL television commentator and the creator of the Madden football video game–John Madden–says he doesn’t believe in the “Madden curse.”

“I was on the cover for several years, and I never once even pulled a hamstring,” Madden said, breaking into a laugh, per the Detroit Free-Press. “It’s a violent sport. Injuries are going to happen.”

“If there was such a thing (as a curse), you couldn’t ask for a better man to prove that wrong than who we’ve got this year,” Madden said about Johnson. “He might be as close to indestructible as we’ve ever had on the cover. Maybe I shouldn’t say that…that might…I’m not going to talk about that any more.”

I’ll be honest I don’t believe in the curse either, injuries are very common in the NFL.

Vikings John Carlson has a sprained MCL

Minnesota Vikings tight end John Carlson MCL in his knee during practice on Tuesday.

The good news is that Carlson didn’t tear his ligament, but he also may not be ready for the Vikings preseason opener.

“You don’t have to have any surgery. It heals by itself,” said Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier. “It’s a little bit more of a pain-tolerance thing and how he feels.”
