Sanchez steps up, says Jets have to be smarter than to fight
Training camp fights happen in every training camp. But the reactions to them can be more instructive than any of the punches thrown. Barack Obama weighs in on Jets quarterback situation

President Barack Obama was a guest on WBNS-FM in Columbus, Ohio, (via the NY Daily News) on Thursday and took the time to give his opinion on the New York Jets quarterback situation that involves both Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow.
“I gotta tell you, I dont like the idea of a quarterback controversy at the start of a season,” Obama said.. “So if I was a Jets fan, I’d be pretty nervous. Sanchez is not Tom Brady yet, but he led them to the playoffs two years in a row. I think Tim Tebow seems to be a wonderful young man, and he’s got just a great winning attitude. He really steps up when things count.”
“But there’s going to be a lot of tension in that situation,” Obama said. “So it’ll be pretty interesting to see how it plays itself out.”
President Obama certainly stated the obvious and it will certainly be interesting to see if thi experiment blows up in the face of the Jets.
Santonio coy about why he’s out and when he’ll be bac
With all the talk about Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow, the player who perhaps can do (and perhaps has done) the most damage to the team with the things he says privately and publicly is receiver Santonio Holmes. Antonio Cromartie: I’m the second-best receiver on the Jets
Antonio Cromartie is still listed as a cornerback, and not a wide receiver. But Cromartie says that if the Jets go through with plans to give him an extensive role in the offense, he’ll be the second-best receiver on the team. Jaws: Tebow’s throwing motion has improved
New Jets quarterback Tim Tebow has been trying to change his throwing motion since he entered the NFL. Every offseason, we read puff-piece stories about the improvement of his delivery and passing mechanics. It has never translated to Tebow’s real game performance, though, and that was evident in last year’s 13 starts, including the playoffs.…![]()

Jets plan on using Antonio Cromartie at wide receiver

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie says that head coach Rex Ryan plans on using him as a wide receiver this season.
“They’re trying to make up a ‘Cro Package,’”said Cromartie. “So I’ll see what goes in there.”
“I believe I can do it,” he went on. “You got to pick your spots. You got to figure out what routes I can run, what routes I can’t run. That’s what we’re going to do.”
The Jets are clearly desperate for a spark on offense. The only legit receiver they currently have is Santonio Holmes. Aside from him, they don’t have any threats that can help quarterback Mark Sanchez.
