Jason Terry hopes his Dallas Mavericks jersey will be retired

For Jason Terry, winning an NBA title was the ultimate as far as personal team achievements are concerned. But what could happen next would be sheer euphoria.
“The bow was winning the championship, but the icing on the cake will be putting that jersey up in the rafters,’’ Terry told the Star-Telegram on Monday. “If it [...]

A look at the Dallas Mavericks rotation

So let’s begin this exercise with the known, or at least what we suspect to be the known: The five starters will be Darren Collison, O.J. Mayo, Shawn Marion, Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Kaman. There was some early politically correct whispering within the organization that Beaubois would compete with Collison for the starting job, but [...]

Big Three on full display for Knicks, Heat, Thunder

Amar’e Stoudemire is an afterthought, and Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler are hurt.

So meet the new “Big Three” of the New York Knicks – Jeremy Lin, J.R. Smith and Steve Novak.

The trio combined to lead the Knicks to a nationally televised 104-97 victory over the defending champion Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, their eight win in nine games.

Remember the calls for coach Mike D’Antoni’s job and the blind hope that Baron Davis and his balky back would be the season’s savior? Although it may seem like it was in another millennium, it was just over two weeks ago. Now, their biggest problem right now appears to be getting everyone healthy and figuring out how the original “Big Three” can play with the new “Big Three.”

Delonte West Banned from Mavericks’ White House Visit

When the Dallas Mavericks make their highly-anticipated trip to the White House Monday, Delonte West will not accompany them. West is, in his words, “banned” from making the visit because of his criminal past.

“I’m banned from going to the White House, so I’m not going to make it,’’ West said after Saturday’s game. “But I’m going home to D.C., I’m just not allowed to go to the White House.

“That’s what happens when you make bad decisions in your life. You can’t go to the White House,” he told the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram.

West pleaded guilty to a weapons and traffic charge last July. He was pulled over on his motorcycle in 2009 and police found three weapons in a guitar case he was carrying. The arrest led to a 10-game suspension from the NBA, and West has since sought help and been treated for mental issues.

Peja Stojakovic To Retire From NBA

Peja Stojakovic, one of the best shooters in NBA history, has announced that he will be retiring from the NBA at the age of 34 and after 13 seasons. Stojakovic, a three-time all-star, won a championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, his first and only season with the Mavs and also Stojakovic’s first trip to the NBA Finals:

Stojakovic told ESPN.com on Monday that the physical toll caused by a string of back and neck troubles, at age 34, convinced the three-time All-Star that “it’s time” to step away from the game despite interest from a handful of contenders in signing the sharpshooter away from the Mavericks.
