Ndamukong Suh wants to take down Ben Roethlisberger and Peyton Manning

AP

Detroit lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh isn’t looking to clean up his reputation.  Instead he wants to take down more quarterbacks.

“I love hitting Aaron Rodgers, Jay Cutler. Ben Roethlisberger, I would like to go against him, because they say he’s one of the hardest to take down,” Suh said, via NFL.com. “I see that as a challenge, so I would love to take him down multiple times. Peyton Manning, oh, I would love that. I think Michael Vick, I did sack him, one of the most elusive quarterbacks to ever play the game. I took him down with one arm.”

Suh explained what a dirty player is.

“A dirty player is somebody who ultimately is trying to hurt somebody. There’s a huge difference,” Suh said. “There’s no gray in that. Like, you have no conscience, no nothing, no guilt. I don’t have that mean streak in me. I don’t play angry. It’s not anger.”

NFL won’t suspend Perrish Cox

A year ago at this time, 49ers cornerback Perrish Cox was out of football and defending himself against charges of raping a woman who had passed out at his apartment. The most incriminating evidence?  Cox told police that he didn’t have sex with the woman, and the DNA of the fetus that later was discovered…

Ike Taylor says Mike Wallace will be welcomed back with open arms

Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor has been having some trouble getting along with wide receiver Antonio Brown during camp, but he says that there will be no hard feelings when Mike Wallace returns to the team. Taylor has been letting Wallace stay in his Orlando home and use his car so that the receiver, who is…

Max Starks activated from PUP list

The Steelers lost a left tackle when Mike Adams went down with a knee injury in the preseason opener, but they gained one on Tuesday. Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that the Steelers have activated Max Starks from the physically-unable-to-perform list. With Adams out for about two weeks after a shaky opening performance, [...]

Vincent Jackson: Josh Freeman a Top-5 quarterback

Standing up for teammates is noble and admirable. Until it makes a mockery of logic and reason, that is. Bucs wide receiver Vincent Jackson was comparing his old Chargers teams to his new digs, and then he started in with the crazy talk. “We were a little more flashy as far as the names go [...]

Steelers rookie blockers have ups and downs in debut

Using your first two draft picks on offensive linemen is an obvious statement of intent. But the Steelers didn’t get nearly the early returns they were looking for out of David DeCastro and Mike Adams in their first professional game Thursday night. “I thought [Adams and DeCastro] represented themselves well, at times, at least from…

Preseason Game One: All Goes Fairly Well In One-Point Loss to Eagles

The Steelers for the most part played a solid game tonight in Philadelphia, but in the end they lost the game 24-23 with a last minute drive by Philly.

The big news was the fact the first unit dominated the Eagles, and led the game 13-0 at the half. The offense was solid, getting back to running the ball quite a bit, and I thought the defense showed up as well.

While the team lost, nothing to be worried about, as they lost in the last minute, and while Mike Tomlin is going to huff and puff about a bad loss, it really wasn’t.

Some of the concerns were the injuries, one to first-year tackle Mike Adams, who was easily beat up all night and gave up 2.5 sacks in the first quarter. He left with a knee injury. FB David Johnson also left the game with a knee injury, and Jonathan Dwyer with a shoulder injury.

Steelers lose David Johnson to leg injury

The injury bug already has bitten the Steelers, on the first drive of their first preseason game. Tight end/fullback David Johnson, who was the star of the team’s intra-squad scrimmage, was helped off the field after tackle Marcus Gilbert fell backward and landed on Jonson’s lower leg.  He exited the playing area via a cart.…

Report: Plax willing to take veteran minimum

With the Mike Wallace impasse dragging on, talk of a Plaxico Burress return to the Steelers bubbled up this week. General Manager Kevin Colbert said that Pittsburgh wasn’t looking for a veteran receiver at this point, but stopped short of ruling it out later in training camp. That was one stumbling block to a Plax [...]

Mike Adams and David DeCastro will both start Thursday night

When the Steelers made Mike Adams and David DeCastro their first two picks of the draft, it wasn’t hard to see them stepping right into starting roles on the offensive line. That’s just what they’ve done. Coach Mike Tomlin said Adams and DeCastro will start at left tackle and right guard, respectively, on Thursday night…

Kevin Colbert says Steelers have had no contact with Mike Wallace

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said last week that he’s spoken to wide receiver Mike Wallace recently. General Manager Kevin Colbert can’t say the same. During an interview with 93.7 in Pittsburgh, via SportsRadioInterviews.com, Colbert said that the team has not had any contact with Wallace because there’s not much to talk about at this point [...]

Ben Roethlisberger Held Out of Indoor Practice

Ben Roethlisberger was held out of an indoor practice Sunday on the South Side after having his left foot stepped on late in practice Saturday at Latrobe.

Roethlisberger promised he would practice Tuesday at the team’s training camp in Latrobe following a players’ day off Monday. Coach Mike Tomlin said Roethlisberger is listed as day to day.

“It’s good,” Roethlisberger said. “No worries. It just got stepped on; it was nothing.”

The quarterback said he didn’t sprain his ankle, and he has “a simple bruise.”

Roethlisberger had an ice pack on his ankle during a goal-line drill that ended practice Saturday, but the ankle wasn’t wrapped Sunday as he observed practice.

“No issues, not at all,” Roethlisberger said. “Mike had already planned on giving it some time because we get tomorrow off as well. So 48 hours does a body good.”

Roethlisberger played on a badly sprained left ankle during a 20-3 loss to the 49ers in late December.
