Panini America’s Weekly Redemption Card Update: Kobe, Magic, Megatron & More

In an effort to keep collectors updated on the status of those Panini America redemption cards that are currently being processed, we’ll post a list every week, like the one included in the attachments below, detailing the most recent cards being fulfilled this week.

The following list is intended to inform collectors about which redemption cards from which products are being processed this week. We’ll update this list every Friday afternoon, so stay tuned next week if you don’t see your card here.

This week’s report includes a high number of “rebatched” redemptions — cards from widely broken products that have been previously redeemed but required subsequent shipments due to high volume. In addition, we’ve also added yellow highlights for those cards that were redeemed via replacement. Finally, any multi-signed cards in this report featuring replaced players have been stamped “NO AUTOGRAPH” in that player’s designated signing area.

If you have specific redemption questions, you can contact the Panini America Customer Service department via email at hobby@paniniamerica.net and the Panini America Customer Service Manager via Twitter.

First things first: We apologize for missing last week’s Panini America Redemption Card Update. Panini America’s History-Making Mail Day Features Vin Scully’s First Autographs

We’re on the receiving end of monumental mail calls almost every day here at Panini America. Such is the case when you’re dealing with autographs and memorabilia from the greatest athletes — upcoming, current, legendary — in the worlds of baseball, basketball, football and hockey.

But the fact of the matter is that some mail days are way more historic than others. Today was one of those days.

The epic notification email from our own Magale Rolden hit my inbox at 9:20 this morning. I was back in Acquisitions before 9:21. At long last, Vin Scully’s autographs for the upcoming 2012 Cooperstown Baseball had arrived. The legendary broadcaster has been the voice of Dodgers baseball — and the very voice of baseball royalty — for 63 seasons.

Scully earned the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Ford Frick Award in 1982 and he was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 1995. No broadcaster in the history of professional sports has been with one team longer. But he’s never before appeared on a certified autographed baseball card — until now.

Limited to 100 copies, Scully’s signature undeniably will be one of the biggest draws from the upcoming 2012 Cooperstown Baseball release. (Speaking of legendary members of the media, Peter Gammons’ Cooperstown autographs fittingly arrived today, too.)

You can get your first look at both Scully and Gammons in the gallery below. Also included: Revealing peeks at some of the Old School signatures from the upcoming 2012-13 Prestige Basketball . . . your first look at some of the autographed USA Baseball content from the upcoming 2012 Prime Cuts Baseball . . . and some jaw-dropping gems from the upcoming 2011-12 Dominion Hockey.

Take your sweet time to soak it all in and stay tuned . . . that next monumental mail day just might be tomorrow.

Panini America Adds Collectibles Industry Veteran D.J. Kazmierczak as VP of Sales

Panini America, the world’s largest sports and entertainment collectibles company, announced today that it has hired collectibles industry veteran D.J. Kazmierczak as its Vice President of Sales. Kazmierczak will oversee the company’s U.S. sales operations and will report to Panini America CEO Mark Warsop.

Kazmierczak, a native of North Carolina, entered the sports collectibles industry in 1994 with Fleer Trading Cards, working on that company’s product development team. In 2002, Kazmierczak became that company’s Vice President of Hobby Sales. After leaving the industry for a few years to pursue his MBA from North Carolina’s Strayer University, Kazmierczak returned in 2005, joining Press Pass as Director of Retail Sales. From 2008-2011, Kazmierczak served as the company’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

“I’m truly excited to join the Panini America team and to help the company continue to strengthen its position as the unquestionable industry leader,” Kazmierczak said. “This represents a tremendous opportunity for me and I’m ready to hit the ground running.”

“The addition of D.J. to our management team only makes us stronger and we’re proud to welcome him into the Panini America family,” said Panini America CEO Mark Warsop. “He brings a track record of success, and a wealth of experience and contacts that will serve our team well as we continue to grow. We’re excited.”

Panini America is the only company in the world that manufactures licensed trading cards and stickers for the NBA, NFL, NFL PLAYERS, NHL, NHLPA, MLBPA and FIFA World Cup. The company also has exclusive relationships with USA Baseball, USA Basketball and the U.S. Soccer Women’s National Team.  In addition Panini also has relationships with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, The Pro Football Hall of Fame and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and owns exclusive entertainment licenses with Disney, Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson, and more than 600 global licenses with other sports and entertainment properties.

I usually don’t purchase Topps boxes that have a bunch of packs in them.  But in this case, I made an exception because Topps was giving away a special mini promo set if you bought a box from them during the ’12 NSCC.  This was by far one of the better Topps boxes I’ve ripped.

Night to Remember: Scenes from the Panini America 2012 National VIP Party

BALTIMORE — The distinguished guests entering Panini America’s VIP party Saturday in conjunction with the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention knew they were in for a special night before they even stepped foot inside. After all, it’s not every day that the legendary Gordie Howe, Mr. Hockey himself, greets you at the door.

To the right, DJ extraordinaire Biz Markie is providing the sounds. To the left, Basketball Hall of Famers Elvin Hayes and Wes Unseld are holding court with Panini America collectors and business partners. Just behind them, Washington Redskins great John Riggins is doing the same on a night when he’s also celebrating his birthday.

The stunning sights go on and on. Just past the Panini America ice sculpture, Detroit Pistons rookie Brandon Knight is signing autographs and posing for pictures. Against the back wall, Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez, only one of the greatest catches in baseball history, is engaging folks with great stories and a kilowatt smile. In the middle of the room, competitive-eating sensation Notorious B.O.B. is entertaining while others eat.

And everywhere, a room full of Panini America VIPs (collectors, dealers, distributors, business partners friends), seem to be loving every minute of it. Black Boxes, wrapper-redemption packs and good times ruled on a truly landmark night.

Check out some of the sweet scenes from the event — thanks to the sharpshooting lens of Brandon P. Cohen — in the massive gallery below . . .

On Location: Panini America’s Friday at the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention

BALTIMORE — The slowly building surge of momentum at the 2012 National Sports Collectors Convention turned into a full-blown frenzy Friday inside the Panini America booth, with the largest crowds of the week creating overwhelming buzz and precious little elbow room.

Panini America officials kick started Friday with a special appearance and autograph session from avid collector Ryan Tatusko, a promising pitching prospect in the Washington Nationals’ organization. Tatusko dazzled every collector he interacted with and set the stage for the ensuing madness of wrapper redemptions.

Other scintillating scenes from the Panini America booth during the National’s third day included a brief visit by legendary baseball speedster Rickey Henderson . . . media stops by ESPN’s Michele Steele and Baltimore’s ABC affiliate . . . and three more riveting Box Wars contests.

Meanwhile, the Friday announcement of Panini America’s 2012-13 Kobe Bryant Anthology set made major headlines at the show — and in Times Square.

After the show ended Friday evening, we followed some of the most popular and passionate product breakers in the YouTube and Blog TV universe to the top floor of a nearby hotel for a little after-hours bust that lasted well into Saturday morning. Panini America briefly crashed the party to donate a few extra boxes to the cause and to soak in the ambiance. Filling the packed room were video-break heavyweights the likes of ThetTruth17, ads912, mynyceguy168 (BT), kingofsteak, foxborosensation11, scatshot, bbexpress2swatko4, lil bb, nosauce21, rbicru7Brianjs14, 1duh1, briophia, gustopher14, jayhawk1971, balthsar, kollectornet, tricitykid, Jasonheywardfan, wiidiis, rye eaglesAsfan7 and more.

It was another fascinating day in Baltimore that simply set the stage for more. Good thing we have Saturday . . .
