Kevin Smith had played for the Lions before, being drafted by them in the 3rd round of the 2008 NFL draft. In his rookie year, he ran for almost 1,000 yards, 8 TDs, and averaging 4.1 yards per attempt. In 2009, Smith ran for about the same number of attempts, 217, but came up with about 230 yards less than he did in 2008, and only 4 TDs. After being benched, and dealing with injuries in 2010, the Lions let him go; did not renew his contract.

Last week Smith ran for only 16 carries, but got 140 yards (8.8 yards per attempt), and two TDs.

So does the question need to be asked?
