Ed Anzalone quitting as ‘Fireman Ed,’ will remain Jets fan
How bad has this season been for the New York Jets? So bad that it convinced Ed Anzalone, aka “Fireman Ed,” to step away from his post as a fan leader for the team.
Tim Tebow characteristically took the high road in response to potshots delivered by his New York Jets teammates. Tebow told the New York Daily News the criticism this week was “frustrating” and “saddening,” but he also said he’ll use those comments as motivation.
New York Jets players rip the idea of starting Tebow at quarterback
The anonymous New York Jets are at it again. Now that the team has all but eliminated itself from playoff contention, the Jets have reportedly decided to start anonymously ripping their teammates the same way they did last winter when Mark Sanchez struggled. This year, Tim Tebow is target.
Rex Ryan reportedly cried in locker room after Jets lost to Seahawks
Rex Ryan knows the New York Jets are a sinking ship. With a loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, New York slipped to 3-6 on the season and all but cemented itself on the outside looking in at the AFC playoff picture.
Antonio Cromartie to Tim Tebow fans: “Kiss my butt”
Antonio Cromartie was asked what he would say to the fans calling for Tebow. “They can kiss my butt,” Cromartie said via the New York Post. (Yes, we think they creatively adjusted the quote to “butt.” It happens.)
Tim Tebow displayed a masterful ability to answer difficult questions during a recent interview with the New York Daily News. Tebow was pressured by Manish Mehta multiple times about being the backup quarterback on the New York Jets, but he never took the bait to criticize Mark Sanchez and campaign for the starting job despite having several chances to say something controversial. He was even presented with an embarrassing question about being voted the Most Overrated Player in the NFL by his peers.
Rex Ryan already said he’s sorry. He thinks it’s about time Reggie Bush did, too. The New York Jets coach is still bothered by the Miami Dolphins running back’s comments a few weeks ago that Darrelle Revis’ season-ending knee injury was a case of “what goes around comes around.”…
Joe McKnight and Bilal Powell are both unlikely to play for the Jets against the Patriots this weekend, leaving New York extremely thin at the running back position. However, Rex Ryan has opted to not sign any additional players for depth purposes. Why would he? He has Tim Tebow.
The Jets coaches and front office spend a lot of time reassuring the public that they have confidence in Mark Sanchez. It may be a different story behind the scenes. Most people believe New York acquired Tim Tebow to be more than just a backup quarterback, although that’s all he has been through the early part of the season. But what about Drew Stanton?
Coming off a game where Sanchez completed 13-of-29 passes for 103 yards, one interception and no touchdowns in the Jets’ shutout loss to the Niners, the “start Tim Tebow” talk has already begun.
The New York Jets suspect that Santonio Holmes may have suffered a Lisfranc injury and expect the wide receiver to miss the rest of the season.
Did the Jets get lucky yesterday in their 23-20 overtime win? In case you missed it, the Jets were lining up for the game-winning field goal, Nick Folk unloaded on a 33-yarder, but it was blocked.
